Legalization:
The idea of legalizing marijuana as a recreational drug, like smoking a cigarette, should be legalized, under some circumstances. The marijuana will be used somewhat like alcohol. Can only be used over an age limit, and if found driving while intoxicated, the consequences will be much, much worse than that of alcohol. There will be many many producers of the marijuana, so one company does not create a monopoly. The marijuana will not be used in schools, nor inside building, or specified areas where it is not allowed. Exactly like cigarettes. The marijuana would be EXACTLY like a cigarette, or alcohol. It would be no harder to get. Marijuana can and will be taxed. Also, just like alcohol, one can get a permit to grow marijuana to either sell or use. There is a man who produces his own moonshine in his backyard and gives it as gifts to friends. He also uses it himself not only to drink, but to power his automobile.
Some Marijuana Facts:
Marijuana, even after being used for 10 years, is less addictive than one, single cigarette. As we all know, it takes at least 2 packs of cigarettes, and a 21 day period to become addicted. There are many ways to smoke marijuana (as we all know) and one of those does not release any smoke. By heating up the marijuana to a certain temperature to where no smoke is produced, but the chemical that gets you high is released, one can become high without inhalation of smoke. Marijuana, health wise, is safer than cigarettes, cigars, and alcohol.
Medical purposes:
Using marijuana for medical purposes, when the case is right, should be legalized for all of the US. One exception; the process of obtaining the marijuana needs to be much stricter, and use many tests proving the patient is in need of a major pain reliever, or other reasons marijuana would be an acceptable substitute to pharmaceutical.
This is basically the position you see everywhere across the U.S.A. Definitely not unique, but interesting, nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteAre you suggesting the legalization of drugs or the enforcement of more laws to limit who has possession of drugs and under what circumstances someone can be in possession of a currently illegal drug? Your position is somewhat unclear and I am not sure that you have actually posed a position or question.
ReplyDeletenice way to be biased against the already extensive tests to prove if the person does actually need use of medicinal marijuana...(just a thought)
ReplyDeleteI would like to say one thing, if people did exactly what you are proposing then it would be legal. However, people abuse this drug. Even if it were legalized for the purposes of medical issues and as a recreational drug, people would abuse it even more because it would be easier to get ahold of. (I Hope you understand what I'm proposing) In today's time, Minors (Such as teenagers) are getting ahold of it and are using it to get high. If it were to be legalized, more teens would have access to it with the help of people who have met the age limit for Marijuana use. However crime rates will go down as well as gang activity if it is legalized. This is simply because people that are found with it, will not be arrested. (that is if they meet the age requirements and are not distributing it to minors.) I could keep discussing this but those are some main points. There is several pros and cons to your proposal. Honestly I do not have an opinion yet on whether it should be legalized or not.

ReplyDeleteMinors can also get alcohol in the exact same way (by getting it from adults) and alcohol is legal.
ReplyDeleteI think marijuana should be legalized. It could be regulated in the exact same ways as alcohol ie permits for growing and distibution/sale, regulation of use (even now you can't drive under the influence of drugs, inxluding medical marijuana), it can be taxed, and it's safer than alcohol or tobacco health-wise.
